“I am humbled to be named one of TML’s Legislator of the Year. This is a great honor,” Torres said.

During the 82nd Legislature, Rep. Torres played a key role in defending municipalities and local control.  He was instrumental in passing a critical amendment that restored the mixed beverage tax reimbursement to cities to aid in DUI enforcement and other alcohol related offenses.  Without the provision, the estimated two year loss to Nueces County and the City of Corpus Christi approached $1 million.
